Freddie Blay is reckless and irresponsible - Koku Anyidoho

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Monday petitioned the International Community to intervene in what they described as ‘’irresponsible lawless conduct’’ of invincible forces.

The party has consistently called on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to call his supporters who are allegedly attacking and seizing state property.

National Chairman of the party in a press conference last week, accused Nana Akufo-Addo of financing and supporting the activities of the invincible forces to unleash mayhem on supporters of the NDC.

According to Kofi Porturphy, the NDC should not be blamed if there should be reprisal attacks.

The party has since petitioned the Diplomatic Community because they believe the attacks are still ongoing.

Deputy General Secretary of the party, Koku Anyidoho confirming the story slammed Freddie Blay, Acting Chairman of the NPP for stating that the supporters seizing property are only doing so to protect them.

He noted, the comments by the NPP officer was reckless and affirms that, the invincible forces are fully being sponsored to do what they are doing adding, ‘’that is the more reason why we are compelled to approach the diplomatic community, because if the whole Acting Chairman is in full support of the lawlessness from the invincible forces, then we have no option. The invincible forces worked for both Nana Addo and Freddie Blay in opposition. So if Freddie Blay is openly in support of the lawlessness of the invincible forces, it makes it more compelling for us to draw the attention of the International Community to the irresponsible conduct of the Acting Chairman of the ruling party.’’

He [Blay] made reckless and unfortunate utterances…The President is not talking. Everybody knows that the invincible forces are drawing their powers from him [Nana Addo]. And so it is important we draw the attention of the whole world,’’ he added.

Speaking on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, Koku Anyidoho underscored the need for President Nana Akufo-Addo to condemn the act.

He said, the ruling government is acting outside the law and the whole world must know.

Nana Addo he said swore to protect all manner of persons when he was inaugurated and has challenged him to uphold that oath.

In his view, the fact that similar incidents occurred in 2001 and 2009 should not warrant the unlawful attacks this year.

The Transition Act he explained, does not allow for people to seize state facilities because there have been change in government.

For him, it is like comparing oranges to apples when people justify the attacks with reference to what happened in 2001 and 2009.

He said, although there were some skirmishes in 2009, people never stormed passport offices to attack people.

He concluded stating that the NDC supporters cannot allow the NPP to attack them but will defend themselves before resorting to the police.

‘’Let us not joke with what is happening especially when you have Freddie Blay supporting the lawlessness of the invincible forces.’’
