The acting National Chairman of the NPP, Mr. Freddie Blay, has on behalf of the party received 300 footballs and other sporting equipment from Dr. John Kissi, a representative of a Ghanaian owned UK based Sport Company, Favad. Speaking at the brief ceremony, Mr. Blay conveyed the gratitude of the party to the company and its management and assured them the footballs will be put to good use. He expressed the confidence that they will be useful in the party's effort to mobilise the youth for change in the 2016 election. He assured them that the NPP under Nana Akufo-Addo and Alhaji Dr. Bawumia will leave no stone unturned in its effort to transform the economy and creating the right environment to facilitate the growth of businesses given the opportunity to govern the country.
Dr. Kissi took the opportunity to appeal to Ghanaians to give Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP an opportunity to govern the country at the 2016 polls because an NPP government will create the right environment for businesses and the economy to prosper. Dr. Kissi observed that the economy of Ghana flourished during the eight years rule of President Kufuor and businesses saw significant growth in the same period. Businesses; large, medium or small are the engine of growth for the economy and unfortunately under the NDC government businesses are suffering. He said he hoped the token presentation will go a long way in the party's effort to re-capture power from the NDC and restore the confidence of the international community in the country's economy. 'The youth in particular have suffered significantly under the Mahama government with the unprecedented levels of unemployment and their frustration should be channelled to facilitate the change Ghana desires.', he added.
Mr. Michael Ansah, Chairman of the NPP UK Branch observed that the current interest rate on loans makes it very difficult for businesses to borrow to expand and employ people. The prudent economic management policies the NPP will put in place will not only bring down interest rates but also arrest the erratic exchange rate situation which makes doing business difficult. He bemoaned the level of indebtedness of the country and observed that it's rather unfortunate that there is not much to show for all those loans the country has contracted. He urged all members and sympathisers to work harder than ever before and take the message of hope to everyone in the country to make the change we desire a reality.
Present at the brief ceremony were MP for Asuagyaman, Hon Kofi Osei Ameyaw and some executive members of the NPP UK.
