The CEO of the Public Sector Reforms, Thomas Kusi Boafo, has said the Free SHS policy by the Akufo-Addo led government has reduced the unemployment rate in the country, drastically.
He believes the Free SHS policy has been one of the efficient ways to find an antidote to high rate of unemployment.
According to him, apart from making senior high school education accessible to several thousand more Ghanaian children, the Free SHS policy also has financial benefits for parents.
“This will enhance poverty and financial hardships in our communities, “Mr. Kusi Boafo told Lawyer Ohene Gyan on Pae Mu Ka on Accra based Kingdom FM 107.7.
“The President Akufo-Addo Government has eased the burden of hundreds of thousands of Ghanaians and invested in the future of our children.
” The NPP government is making education affordable for parents to send their children to school.
It’s less financial burden providing equity and equality for children from all walks of lives to access schools which seem to be for rich homes.
With Free SHS policy, children from deprived schools are schooling in these top class schools across the country , a policy we should be proud of and embrace it fully.
He said leaving the responsibility of the policy on the government alone would not promote quality education as education cannot be absolutely free as perceived in some quarters.
