Family, friends and former colleagues of late Joy FM and BBC presenter, Komla Dumor, on Thursday, joined hands to celebrate his birthday in Accra.

Komla Dumor, who died in London on Saturday, January 18, 2014, at age 41, would have turned 47 on October 3, 2019.

Notable among those present at the gathering was the sister of the late presenter, Mawuena Dumor; his father, Professor Ernest Dumor; media personality, Kofi Otchere Darko (KOD) and Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah.

Speaking at the event, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah who stepped into Komla Dumor’s shoes as host of the ‘Super Morning Show’ on Joy FM when the latter left to continue his career at BBC, described his former colleague and friend as a man of excellence.

He recounted how he (Oppong Nkrumah) “wept like a baby” upon hearing news of the late journalist’s death.

“He is a man I have always admired. His appeal for excellence always drives me. I remembered the morning I heard of his death, I couldn’t go to my show. I wept like a baby. I said to God that this is not fair,” he stated at the event.

It has been over five years since the excellent Ghanaian journalist passed, yet, the enthusiasm, cheers and well wishes from people across the globe on his birthday, symbolize a life well-lived and his memory still lingers on.

He is described by many as a man of peace who had the interest of his people at heart.
