Friends of Nduom (FON), a non-partisan group, has been launched in the Brong Ahafo regional capital, Sunyani, in honour of one of the founder members of the Progressive People's Party (PPP), Dr. Papa Kwesi Ndoum, for his remarkable contributions towards the development of Ghana.

The membership of the group extends to Wamfie in Dormaa East also in the Brong Ahafo region.

Speaking to the media over the weekend, Brong Ahafo regional Chairman of the PPP, Mr. Seth Gomna, explained that FON focuses on helping the needy but brilliant pupils and students in society.

For his part, founder and leader of FON, Mr. Boye Oduro, said the mission of the group is to promote national reconciliation and unity to achieve “real better Ghana.”

“We mean to create a social system notwithstanding our political affiliation, ambition or class but to give priority to the welfare of a Ghanaian by implementing programmes in active consultation with members to ensure that both local and national priorities are met and that the people of Ghana are the entire beneficiaries,” he said.

A member of the communication team of FON also called on Ghanaians to come together so as to move Ghana forward.

“Partisan politics has been a common enemy to the development of “our nation--this is because it has succeeded in dividing us as one people with a common destiny; it has been robbing us of our individual rights and citizens of mother Ghana. And in order to fight this common enemy, it will take collective minds, devoid of party politics or differences."

"We have to build Ghana through the grace of God. We should learn to stop blaming ourselves because the blame game cannot solve our problems but God who is the Almighty can do it without any hesitation. We should desist from unnecessary demonstrations and hate speech and pray with fasting since prayers can do all things," he added.
