Fritz Baffoe upbeat about his new appointment

Information Minister designate; Fritz Baffoe upbeat about his new appointment

Fritz Baffour, Member of Parliament for Ablekuma South and now the Minister of Information-designate says his new ministerial role would come as ³an additional duty² but stressed he is fully up to the task.

Alluding to his responsibilities as an MP for Ablekuma South, he says he will diligently execute his functions as the Minister of Information.

Fritz Baffour in an interview with Xfm 95.1 shortly after his nomination said though the ministerial appointment was unexpected, he promised to serve the people of Ghana and work hard to diversify the Ministry.

He added that with his experiences from the National Media Commission and Communications team, his expertise is much desired in this field of appointment. He takes over from John Tia Akologo, outgoing Minister of Information and was confident his hard work has won him the position as an Information Minister.

Fritz Baffour hopes to set up a "firm foundation" at the Ministry and would not comment on the performance of his predecessor saying "even as a Member of Parliament, my predecessor was from the NPP [alright], I never made a judgment on her. I think that it's obsessional; it's unfair. People leave foundation for other people to build on and that is my greed."

He rubbished calls on the President in the early periods of his regime to scrap off the Information Ministry as the proponents argued that the Information Ministry and the President¹s Communication team both serve the same purposes. According to him, the Ministry¹s activities have no correlation with President Mills¹ Communications team and therefore both operate as separate entities.

He further added that with the Information Ministry as one of the hot spots in government, he would be more cautious in his approach of work at the Ministry.

He expressed his utmost appreciation to President Mills and promised to work assiduously as the Head of the Ministry.
