Ghana’s power utilities will resume meeting the country’s peak demand from Tuesday, 2 April 2019, after plants that were affected by gas-supply shortages were refueled with light crude oil.

The plants will generate at their full capacity of 600 megawatts late on Tuesday and will lift the West African nation’s overall output to 2,600 megawatts, about the same as peak demand, Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) Chief Executive Officer, Jonathan Amoako-Baah, said by phone.

Ghana experienced intermittent power-supply shortages over the past few days due to the installation of new connections on the national gas-pipeline network, Ben Asante, CEO of Ghana National Gas Co., said on Monday.
