GAF to co-operate with other security services

Kumasi, July 19, GNA - The Ghana Army has pledged to fully co-operate and support the various security services in the crusade to bring about peace and stability to the nation.

Major-General Samuel Odotei, Chief of Army Staff, who made the pledge, said this was because it was only through collaboration and co-operation of the security services that peace could be attained, fully maintained in the country and also extended to other parts of the sub-region.

Major-General Odotei made the pledge when he paid a courtesy call on Mr S. K. Boafo, Ashanti Regional Minister at his office at the Regional Co-ordinating Council (RCC) in Kumasi on Tuesday.

The call formed part of his two-day visit to units of the Army in Kumasi and Sunyani, both within the Northern Command.

Among those who accompanied him on the visit were, Colonel Opoku Adusei, Director in-charge of Army Operations and Brigadier-General J.N. Adinkrah, General Officer Commanding (GOC), Northern Command.

Major-General Odotei made it clear that since peace was a vital ingredient for any human development and progress the Army would explore all avenues to not only attain it, but also fully maintain it.

Mr Boafo commended the security services for their relentless support and co-operation, which had helped to create a peaceful atmosphere in the Region.

Prior to his courtesy call on the Regional Minister, Major-General Odotei had visited the Headquarters of the Northern Command and the Fourth Battalion of Infantry (4BN), all in Kumasi.

At the Headquarters of the Northern Command, the Chief of Army Staff was briefed by the GOC on intelligence, operations, administration and logistics pertaining to the Command.
