GAWU donates palm oil processing mill to Adankro

The General Agricultural Workers Union (GAWU) has installed a palm oil processing mill at Adankrono in the Kwaebibirem District for the benefit of women palm oil processors of the town.

The GH¢ 30,000 .00 mill was inaugurated by the General Secretary of GAWU, Mr. Kingsley Offei-Nkansah at the weekend, as part of the anniversary of the installation of Osabarima Sarpong Kumankuma II as Adankronohene.

The theme for the celebration was “working towards child labour free zone in Ghana”.

The Adankronohene and GAWU have for years been campaigning against child labour and they have succeeded in getting many children out of child labour into schools.

Mr. Offei-Nkansah said GAWU provided the mill to help the women to increase production with less toil, and earn more income to be able to contribute to the needs of their households.

Speaking at a grand durbar earlier, Osabarima Kumankuma said children were invaluable assets of the nation who should be groomed with care and attention to be nation builders of the future.

The Adankronohene thanked GAWU for the assistance the Union was giving to his town.

He also thanked his people for their co-operation during the past 25 years and called for greater unity for the town to chalk further successes in future.
