GCPP elects regional executives

The Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP), has held its Congress in Takoradi in the Western Region to elect the party's regional officers.

In all, eight positions of the party in the region were contested unopposed in an election supervised by the Electoral Commission.

Innocent Asamoah and George Yawson, all party stalwarts, were elected Chairman and vice chairman respectively.

The rest were, Kojo Arthur, Education Secretary, Ishmael Koney, Youth Organiser and Cecilia Eshun, women organizer;

Charles Cobbinah, Isaac Nkrumah and Dora Bamba, were elected organizer, Treasurer and Secretary respectively.

Dr Henry Lartey, Acting Chairman of the party regretted that most of the roads in the region were in deplorable state, even though the area was endowed with many natural resources.

He indicated that the GCPP-led government would invest more in solar energy as part of measures to halt the current energy crisis.

He pledged to continue to promote the late Dan Lartey’s Domestication Policy, which he noted, was still the best policy for Ghana.

Dr Lartey explained that the concept of domestication was about supporting local farmers and local businesses.

"This couuld be done by promoting a Ghana economic empowerment programme, which would be stimulus for the upliftment of the Ghanaian economically".

He indicated that the party would focus on strengthening its structures to build a formidable force to garner more votes in the next general elections.
