GCPP has more support than NPP & NDC -Dan Lartey

Mr. Dan Lartey, leader of the Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP) is determined to die with his boots on as a politician. At almost 80, Mr. Lartey has not dreamt of retiring from active politics.

?As long as I am strong and healthy, I will continue to contest the flag-bearership or any other position in the party.

?If you are healthy, strong and can reason, why do you stop talking about events of the nation?? he asked. Responding to questions regarding his future plans should he lose the December 2004 elections and possibly fall out of grace within his party, Mr. Lartey said his retirement from politics would not arise since ?our party is going to win the 2004 general elections hands down.

?The GCPP?s support in the country is now the highest above that of the NDC and the ruling NPP, Mr. Lartey emphasized. When asked the basis for his optimism, he said, ?I have gone round the country, especially the Western Region and from all indications, the odds favour the GCPP.

?We are putting up 230 candidates for the parliamentary elections and we will record a landslide victory because our policy of domestication. He said when the GCPP wins the presidency, ?they will change the country?s economic policy in the first 100 days.?
