Mr Alex Frimpong, Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Employers’ Association, has called on employers and employees to reinforce the understanding that there were rules that guided the settlement of disputes in the country.
He said it was important for all to come to a clear understanding that disputes would occur in every situation one finds him or herself especially in the work place, “but it has to be settled to promote peaceful working environment".
Mr Frimpong made the call on Wednesday at a workshop organised by the Ghana Employers’ Association for its members on settlement of disputes.
The workshop was also to provide the essential tools required for the management of industrial or workplace disputes, to promote sound and healthy working relationships at the enterprise level.
Mr Frimpong said “disputes are natural and expected to happen in the normal working environment, and has to be resolved in a timely and appropriate manner in order not to create problems in the working place.”
He said organisational disputes could affect productivity, adding that, it was important for all organisations and industries to have an idea of how appropriate disputes could be resolved if they should occur.
“A lot of networking has to be done, as well as education in order for industries and organisations to be well informed about dispute resolution, so that productivity would continue to grow and investors would continue to trust and invest in organisations”.**
