The lead story on the frontpage of the Times has the headline: SSNIT detects fraud .. In Social Security contributions:
The story reads: The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has detedted irregularities in the monthly contributions of some workers. This has resulted in two or more workers contributing to the same social security (SS) number. While others contributed to the numbers that were different from the officially registered ones, the contributions of some were credited to their correct SS numbers, but with other people's names and details. Mr J.E. Alotey-Pappoe, Head of Public Affairs of SSNIT, disclosed this in Accra at a seminar on 'Labour and Industrial Relations' organized for Journalists from both the public and private media. He said part of the problem should be attributed to unsrupulous employers who exploited job seekers in their anxiety to get jobs at all cost.
