The Ghana-India Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT (GI-KACE) has partnered with the Ministry of Communications and the World Bank to empower the youth to acquire digital skills.

The first phase of the programme will commence on October 14, 2024 targeting the Greater Accra, Volta, Upper West, Eastern, Western North, Northern, Central, Ashanti, Bono, and Bono East regions.

A statement issued by the Centre on Friday, October 4, 2024, announced the strategic collaboration aimed at bridging the digital skills gap in marginalised communities in the country.

"The Ghana-India Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence is proud to announce a strategic collaboration with the Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation (MoCD) and the World Bank to create, enhance and sustain digital job skills for the youth of Ghana. This initiative, titled "eskills4Jobs," aims to bridge the digital skills gap and promote inclusive digital careers among marginalised communities," it stated.

The Centre noted that the partnership is expected to create jobs and stimulate the digital economy.

"The 'eskills4Jobs' initiative is designed to enhance employability, foster quality job creation, and stimulate innovation across the digital economy. By addressing the specific needs of marginalized groups, the programme will not only contribute to individual empowerment but also strengthen the local digital entrepreneurship ecosystem and talent base," it added.

Additionally, the initiative is expected to empower women and marginalised groups by providing tailored digital skills training.

"As a commitment to inclusivity, "eskills4Jobs" will offer tailored digital skills training for women and persons with disabilities (PwDs), improving their access to and utilization of digital technologies. This initiative will enable women and PwDs to actively participate in the broader labour market, ensuring that no one is left behind in the digital revolution," it indicated.
