Information available to GhanaWeb indicates that the Rector of Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) is on his annual leave for thirty-five days.

In a letter written and signed by the Rector which is copied to the Registrar of the Institute as well as the Chairman of the GIJ Governing Council, Acting Vice-Rector, the Finance Officer and Internal Auditor states “I write to inform you and members of the Executive Management Board of my decision to take part of my annual leave of thirty-five days. I would start the leave on Wednesday 27th December, 2017 and resume duty on Thursday 1st February, 2018.”

“In my absence, Dr Ebo Afful, the Acting Vice-Rector is to act as Rector” it further stated.

Earlier this week, media reports were rife that the Rector Wilberforce S. Dzisah Ph.D. had been asked to proceed on leave by the Governing Council of GIJ as a four-member committee investigates issues concerning procurement matters under his tenure.

The committee, the reports said, will be probing the “academic integrity” of Dr Dzisah, as well as some other management members of GIJ.

According to the news reports, the investigations were commissioned by the Chairman of the Governing Council, Prof. Kwasi Ansu-Kyeremeh and it started on December 18, 2017.

The reports further stated that a letter from the journalism training school said “any other matters arising out of the investigation” may also be probed.
