GIJ calls off graduation again

GIJ has postponed its graduation ceremony again GIJ has postponed its graduation ceremony again

The Ghana Institute of Journalism has for the second time this month postponed its highly publicised graduation ceremony.

The ceremony was earlier billed for September 8, 2017, and subsequently moved to 22nd of the month but has now been called off indefinitely.

A notice announcing the cancellation Tuesday said: “The 11th congregation ceremony scheduled for Friday 22nd September has been postponed to a date to be announced later”.

It is unclear the reasons for the postponement but StarrFMonline.com sources say it is connected to the issues surrounding classes of students.

Early this month, confusion rocked the school over the GPA of students who were to partake in the graduation.

The school, after concerns from angry students, removed the classes of students which had been posted on its notice board.

StarrFMonline.com sources at the technical unit of the media school said authorities mistakenly graded and awarded classes to students who had either differed or were unable to write exams and therefore were not eligible to graduate.

The incident provoked the affected students who reportedly thronged the school to protest as they had been given either Second Class lower or just a Pass.
