GIPC Lady Busted!

Security personnel at the offices of Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) who have been quietly tasked to manage both the confidentiality of documents of investors and information key to the state as well as find out the source of leaks that rocked the previous management headed by Mr. George Aboagye made a major catch on Wednesday, June 5, 2013.

The security personnel, who had placed under surveillance some of the workers of the Centre caught the Investment Promotion Officer, one Gloria Adjapong, in the act taking photographs of confidential documents and invoices.

Asked why she was taking pictures of internal documentation, Ms. Adjapong could only say the pictures were taken by mistake. She failed to name those she was taking the photograph for. Yesterday, in the morning at about 8:00 am, BNI operatives picked her up together with her galaxy Samsung phone and laptop. Sources say the BNI operatives also visited her home.

Intel picked up by this paper indicates that there are very explosive materials on her phone. She is currently under the custody of the BNI.

It would be recalled that in the run-up to the 2012 elections, a series of confidential documents found their way from GIPC to some private media houses who published their contents. This proved particularly embarrassing for the then CEO, George Aboagye and compelled him to resign.

There are question marks over other staff members who may have been implicated in the Gloria Adjapong scandal. It is expected that they will also be questioned.
