GN Bank has organised an eye screening exercise for the people of Accra New-Town and its environs.
The exercise, which was done in collaboration with Community Uplift Ghana, a non-governmental organisation, was part of the bank’s corporate social responsibilities.
Apart from residents of Accra New Town, workers of GN Bank at the place and those from the other branches of the bank in the Accra metropolis also had their eyes screened.
Speaking to Today in an interview, some of the workers of the bank shared their experience.
For instance, a worker at the Ring Road branch of the bank, Dominic Asare, said, “We are here today to provide health services to our numerous and cherished customers.”
He disclosed that, “our outfit is here to support and not only to support but also to introduce our products and services to the customers to patronise what can we offer to them.”
Another worker at the North-Ridge branch, Gloria Abuanor, was enthused about the participation of the exercise.
She revealed that, “we have life insurance to cover up to one thousand Ghana cedis (GHC1,000) and also 9% interest per annum when a savings account is opened with GN Bank.”
Founder and President of Community Uplift Ghana, Franklin Mensah, was grateful to the management of GN Bank for providing such an essential service to the people.
Since 2011, Community Uplift Ghana has collaborated with organisations like One Sight USA and now GN Bank to provide eyeglasses and screenings to deprived communities in the country.
He said, “I believe, at the end, we are here to support the people living in this deprived community who can’t afford glasses to wear when they visit the hospital.”
He pointed out that, “the test comes with free glasses without any fees. Over the years, we have organized this same exercise with the people living in these communities
A beneficiary of the exercise, Jibril Mohammed thanked GN Bank for the gesture.
