GNAPS message to Ghanaian Muslims

The Ghana National Association of Private Schools (GNAPS) has commended Ghanaian Muslims at the end of their Idil-Fitr fast and urged them to co-operate in all spheres with their Christian brothers for the development of the country.

In a statement in Accra on Tuesday, the President of the Association, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah said Ghana is a secular state and therefore, it behoves all religious bodies to unite in a common purpose for the progress of the nation.

"As a nation and people, we must eschew what is being propagated world-wide as a seeming conflict between Christianity and Islam, manifesting in declaration of wars, suicide bombing and individual attacks which only claim innocent lives".

He said Ghanaians have always lived in peace; regardless religious inclinations and this peace should further be strengthened and solidified for a better future.

On the educational front, Dr. Nkrumah said Christians and Muslims should constantly think-tank to see how best the two could cooperate to evolve strategies at providing and ensuring quality education for the youth.

Dr. Nkrumah said: "Education is basic to everything and therefore, if we fail to provide the essential quality education to our youth who will become the future leaders of our nation, then posterity will judge us in a negative perspective."
