Mr.Cyril Opon General Manager of Ghana Oil Company Limited (GOIL) for parts of the Western and Central Regions, on Tuesday said the company has nothing to do with the alleged fuel racketeering recently exposed by the Regional Minister at Takoradi.
He was speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Takoradi.
Mr.Opon said the fuel tanker from which diesel petrol was being siphoned into containers when the Regional Minister and the police came on the scene does not belong to GOIL.
He said further, the incident took place outside the premises of the company .
Mr. Opon said GOIL does not control the stocking and supply of fuel at its installation which is near where the incident took place.
This is the responsibility of Tema Oil Refinery (TOR), which has a mini refinery at the company's installation where others are supplied, he said.
Mr Opon said fuel tankers, which transport the consignments belong mostly to private companies and are loaded, sealed and dispatched by TOR.
The driver of the tanker, who was arrested during the clampdown is to be blamed for what happened and not GOIL, he added
