The Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) has said it has not called a strike over the recent increases in insurance premium by the National Insurance Commission (NIC).
However, it is resorting to the due process of law to have it reviewed.
Mr. Issah M. Khaleepha, the General Secretary of the Union, in a statement to the Ghana News Agency said: “As much as the GPRTU is not happy and condemns the increment in no uncertain terms, we have not intended to go on strike in protest, but to dialogue with the NIC on the issue.”
He, therefore, asked its regional secretariat to caution its members not to involve themselves in the intended nationwide strike until they got permission from the National Secretariat.
“We have not exhausted all avenues in labour regulations, therefore, members should wait until an order is given.” he said.
