GPRTU official says transport should go up

Hohoe, April 4, GNA - Mr. Ben Hehetro, the Vice-Chairman of the Hohoe Branch One of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), on Tuesday said marginal increases in petroleum products should attract corresponding increment in fares.

He said since any increases in the commodity would naturally have a rippling effect on their daily fuel budget, it was obvious that the extra expenditure was recouped to enable them break even. Mr. Hehetro told the Ghana News Agency in an interview that fuel was only a component of items beside spare parts, tyres, brake fluid among others, which are considered in the transportation industry. The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) on Monday released new prices of the commodity to reflect the rising cost of crude oil on the international market.
