GT supports National Orientation Programme

Accra, Oct. 29, GNA - Ghana Telecom (GT), operators of One Touch, on Monday presented a sponsorship package of 50,000 Ghana cedis (500 million cedis) to the Ministry of Information and National Orientation in support of its Orientation Programme.

Mrs. Oboshie Sai-Cofie, sector Minister who received the cheque said the support which was the first sponsorship package, would support in media promotion programmes aimed at changing attitudes to propel development.

She said it had become a matter of priority that all Ghanaians adopt the five pillars of the Orientation campaign which are, "Proud to be Ghanaian", "Positive and Can Do it Attitude", "Patriotism and Spirit of Ghana First", " Productivity and Accountability" and "Dedication and Discipline" to promote and develop their personalities.

Mrs. Sai-Cofie commended GT for the gesture and appealed to other corporate bodies and individuals to also support. Mr Philip Sowah, Chief Executive Officer for GT, said having adopted one of the pillars " Proud to be Ghanaian" as slogan to promote its One Touch product, the company deemed it fit to sponsor the programme as part of its social responsibility. He stated that attitudinal change on productivity, punctuality, consumption of made in Ghana products as well as certain concepts were necessary for the country to attain its vision of a middle income status.

Mr Sowah said the support marked the beginning of a collaboration between the two entities and pledged to provide more assistance if the initial programme went well. 29 Oct. 07
