The Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) has embarked on a revenue mobilization exercise to retrieve all arrears owed the company.
The exercise is taking place in all ten regions across the country.
A statement issued by the GWCL indicated that customers who fail to pay up their arrears will be disconnected from having access to water supply.
“As part of the exercise, disconnection teams have been set up in all the regions to disconnect on the spot all categories of customers whose bills are in arrears,” the release stated.
It threatened that disconnections carried out will not be restored until full payment of arrears is made, and appropriate reconnection fees paid.
“Again, we remind customers to endeavour to leave their payment receipts behind when leaving their homes to avoid wrongful disconnections.
“Customers who have paid via mobile money or other electronic means will have to show SMS payment receipts as proof of payment,” it said.
The team from the GWCL will also be on the lookout for illegal connections and self-reconnections.
“All persons found to be engaged in such criminal activities will be handed over to the police for prosecution,” the GWCL warns.
All customers are entreated to comply with the GWCL to help mobilize enough revenue towards the development of the country.
Persons who wish to make payments via electronic means can do so through mobile money on all networks.
