Ga District Assembly collects 8.6 billion cedis revenue in first

half-year

Amasaman, Sept. 3, GNA - The Ga District Assembly collected 8.6 billion cedis as revenue against a total expenditure of 6.2 billion cedis during the first half of this year.

Mr Samuel Nii Aryeetey Attoh, Ga District Chief Executive announced this during the third ordinary meeting by the Assembly at Amasaman on Tuesday.

He said the expenditure covered personal emoluments, travelling and transport, general expenditure, maintenance and other recurrent expenditures.

The DCE stated that the revenue came from eight main areas - rates, lands, fees and fines, licence, rents, grants, investment, and miscellaneous.

Mr Attoh said rehabilitation works on the Madina new market under the Urban V Project was progressing steadily and was about 60 per cent completed.

The execution of the Madina market complex road is also nearing completion, he said, but added that the contract period had to be extended on two occasions primarily due to additional works that were to be carried out.

The DCE stated that more than 79 household latrines had been constructed in 22 communities since June 2003 to date. Some 40 boreholes have also been sunk in 38 communities.
