The Executive Director of policy tink-tank, Danquah Institute, has raised concerns about what appears to be an aerial reconnaissance of the Accra residence of the main opposition New Patriotic Party’s 2012 Presidential Candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko says the party’s maverick and firebrand Legislator, Kennedy Agyapong has also complained of seeing a helicopter beam lights into his residence for a delayed period.
Mr. Otchere-Darko says: "It appears that there’s a new form of threat which maybe we should be looking at”.
He explained that: “Earlier this week, Kennedy Agyapong says that there [was] a helicopter that came to his house and threw lights in for a long time”.
According to him: “Two nights ago around 9pm, the security people in Nana Addo’s house also mentioned a similar thing,” adding that:“…They threw the lights in Nana’s house”.
He, however, admitted that the chopper did not beam its lights into Nana Akufo-Addo’s house for as long as it allegedly did in the case of Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong.
“…I call it the chopper threat", Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko said on Joy FM’s news analysis programme ‘newsfile’ on Saturday, and wondered if it was a mere coincidence.
His co-panelists, former Chief of Staff, Nana Ato Dadzie and Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide Newspaper, Kweku Baako Jr, both said it could have been a general aerial reconnaissance not targeted at any specific person.
Nana Ato Dadzie said he and other people also experienced the same.
“I was at a funeral yesterday, and there was a lady somewhere in Accra who thought that there was this chopper going round and was directing at her house”.
