Founder of the Danquah Institute and a leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Gabby Otchere Darko has in a special way commended personnel of the Ghana Water Company for their flawless delivery in spite of its challenges since the outbreak of the novel coronavirus in the country.

The use of water since the outbreak of the novel Coronavirus has become more essential in daily routines as it forms part of the safety precautionary measures of slowing down the spread of the deadly virus.

Mr Otchere Darko indicated in a tweet sighted by GhanaWeb that the country has faced its highest water demands yet but the utility company has been more professional and resilient in handling the pressure.

He described the company as the unsung heroes in the nation’s fight against the deadly coronavirus.

“Some of the unsung heroes in this fight against Covid-19 is GHANA Water Company Ltd. Since March, they have faced the biggest daily demand on tap water ever in Ghana’s history. We appreciate you. Clifford Braimah and his team,” his tweet read.

However, the utility company in March admonished Ghanaians to begin water storage as it is likely to undergo some technical challenges in the supply of water in the capital city, Accra and some other major cities across the country.

A statement issued by the company partly noted; “it must be emphasized that during this period of the coronavirus pandemic, citizens are advised to wash hands regularly under running water. With the erratic flow in some areas, consumers are advised to use improvised receptacles like the “Veronica Bucket” in the washing of hands and dispose of the dirty water immediately after".
