Gabby ‘has no role in Akufo-Addo’s government’ – John Boadu asserts

General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, John Boadu, says Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko has no role in the Akufo-Addo government hence whatever he says should be treated as his personal comments.

Mr. Otchere-Darko who is the nephew of President Akufo-Addo has been viewed by many as a powerful member of the government because he appears to have a great deal of knowledge on the government decisions.

His influence, perhaps, caused the Executive Director of the Media Foundation for West Africa, Sulema Braimah, to ask what the role of Mr. Otchere-Darko is in the NPP government since he has been “all over on government matters”; a question that attracted varied views on Facebook on August 6.

But Mr. Boadu on Wednesday set the record straight on the issue when he said the founder of the Danquah Institute currently has no role to play in the government.

“He [Gabby] has no role,” Mr. Boadu stated on Sunrise Morning show on 3FM, adding that there have been a number of things that Mr. Otchere-Darko have come out to say about the government that turned out not to be true.

Gabby “said that there is going to be VAT and was there a VAT in the supplementary budget?,” the General Secretary asked.

“I am saying that we should take his comments as comments coming from you or coming from me. It is not decision of government. Government decision has a channel and platform that it is communicated,” he added.

John boadu said some of the comments coming from people within the NP should be taken with a pinch of salt as they are personal comments and not representing the position of the government.
