Gadangme Heritage Donates To Support Causes

GaDangme Heritage, a fee-paying organization formed in June 26, 2002 has already started implementing its immediate term goals. The organization recently presented a check of 3.5 million cedis to the GaDangme Council in Accra in support of the Manye Aba newspaper.

Another 200 pounds sterling worth of school supplies is to be donated to the Teshi and Okwenya schools this month when the treasurer calls at the schools during his visit to Ghana.

In August last year the Vice-Chairman presented several school supplies including stationery, manual typewriters and footballs to Teshi AMA 4JSS during a visit.

The judges for the GaDangme Heritage Literary Award Competition are being assembled in Accra. The judges, with extensive written and verbal competence in Ga and Dangme will be responsible for the nature, contents and rules governing the competition.

The GaDangme Heritage Literary Award Competition, to be established by GaDangme Heritage is meant to encourage JSS students to be proficient in essay writing, poetry, reading and writing in the Ga and Dangme languages.

This competition is initially be to held three times a year with the prices ranging from 500,000 to 200,000 cedis for first, second and third prices respectively.

Arrangements are currently underway to establish a Memorandum of Understanding between GaDangme Heritage and the GaDangme Council in Accra.

Massive recruitment campaign for membership of GaDangme Heritage is well underway worldwide. GaDangme Heritage has members in Ghana, Australia, The United States, Canada, The United Kingdom, Austria and Switzerland.

The organization has been granted tax-exempt status in the United States, which should help in its fundraising, drives. Similar arrangements are being considered in the UK to establish GaDangme Heritage as a charity organization.

The costing estimates for its medium term projects are on going, and structural repairs and provision for well-equipped libraries and IT training for both schools will begin shortly.
