Gadangme embarks on seven weeks demonstration

Accra, Nov. 21, GNA - The Gadangme Council a non-political tribal pressure group in the Greater Accra region on Friday outlined a seven-week relentless civil resistance activities to force government heed to demands for return of Ga lands acquired by Government to its original owners. The dates for the seven-week resistance demonstration are: November 25; 27; 28; to be continued from December 1; 2; 3; 9; 16; 23; and crowned on January 30; Mr. Prince-Derick Nii Sowah Adjei a leading member of the group stated in a Notice of Demonstration letter to the Ghana Police Service made available to the Ghana News Agency in Accra. The statement said it intend mobilising about 400 demonstrators daily to march through some of the principals streets of Accra and marshal about 4,000 protestors for the final day.

The statement explained that the demonstrators would present their petition to a number of governmental and civil society groups including; the President, Speaker and Leadership of Parliament, the Chief Justice, the Acting Commissioner of Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice, the Chief Executive Officers of the National Sports Council, and the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, and the Media. The statement express confidence in the capability of the Ghana Police Service to manage multiply security operations and assured the nation that the demonstrations would be peaceful and confined to the demarcated routes.
