Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has subscribed to the notion that the lawless protestors against the illegal mining practice must face the full rigours of the law.

He said lawlessness must not be condoned in the country and indicated that those who fluted the law must not go scot-free.

John Agyekum Kufuor was speaking on the Angel Morning Show on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, on growing concern over the menace of illegal mining in the country.

Speaking with Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah, he stated that the protestors must be dealt with accordingly to serve as a deterrent to others.

“In child upbringing, you will love them though but when they misbehave, they must face some sort of punishment for them to know they are going wayward.

……how can you go and distract the work of the police while on duty? So definitely the government will hold you responsible and you cannot be allowed to go unpunished,” the former president said on Angel TV.

He cautioned the youth against engaging in acts that will jeopardize the peace of the country and their future.

According to the former President, Ghanaians should be more concerned about actions that collaborate with the government’s efforts to find punitive measures to issues facing the country rather than resorting to violence.
