The activities of galamsey operators in the Pra River, which is the main water intake point for treatment by the Western Regional Office of the Ghana Water Company is affecting water supply to residents of Sekondi in the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolis.
For over three weeks, residents of Sekondi have been grappling with how to get water for domestic as well as economic activities.
Most of the residents told Radio Ghana that, the situation is having adverse effect on them.
Meanwhile, the Western Regional Communications Manager of the Ghana Water Company, Nana Yaw Barnie says until the activities of galamsey operators, which constitute a major challenge to their activities are halted, the problem will persist.
He spoke to our Western Regional Correspondent Marie Aziz Tunde in Sekondi.
Nana Yaw Barnie also mentions that the situation is also as a result of the dry season and power outages that affect its production.
