Gambian Observer Apologizes to Rev Titus Pratt

A report appeard in the issue of Tuesday November 27, 2001 to the effect that Rev. Titus K.A. Pratt, chairman and General Superintendent of the Methodist church in The Gambia embezzled funds sent to him by Mrs. Dee Seymons for the refurbishment of the chapel at Jangjanbureh, diverted a container of computers meant for use in The Gambia to Ghana and not only misappropriated money Mrs. Dee Seymons sent for the completion of projects at Marakissa but also converted gifts sent for patients at Brikama and Marakissa which were sold at Brikama market.

The report was published by us on information we believed reliable. We have ascertained and now recognise there was absolutely no foundation for this report and we regret that it was ever made.

We are glad to take the earliest opportunity of correcting our error and of expressing to Rev. Pratt and his family our regret for any distress or embarrassment caused to them by the original report. Observer Company Limited.
