The Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG), will from Tuesday 20th March, 2012 begin a series of public fora dubbed ‘The Gargantuan Forum’. Starting from The Eastern Region (Koforidua) this Tuesday, 3:30pm at the Appenteng Hall, the ‘platform’ will move to all other regions in the country.
The essence of these public interaction(s) is to fulfill AFAG’s avowed commitment to holding public officeholders accountable as well as being a bridge between the ordinary Ghanaian and the government. To this end, the platform will discuss topical issues; holistically look at the payment of judgment debts made by the N.D.C. government and above all give the ordinary Ghanaian an opportunity to assess the N.D.C. government in his own perspective. Additionally, AFAG based on the discourse and resolve of the people will collect signatures which AFAG will use as one of its basis to determine its next course of action.
AFAG is by this statement inviting all Ghanaians particularly those who cherish the tenets of transparent and accountable governance. In a democracy, where public officeholders hold office in trust of the people, the people at any given occasion have the right to know how that mandate has or its being exercised.
Thank you.
