Gen. Mosquito Predicts NPP?s Doom In 2008

Former Member of Parliament (MP) for Wenchi West, Hon. Johnson Asiedu Nketsia, has predicted that come December 2008, the ruling NPP government would crush out of power like a pack of cards.

This, he said, would then pave way for the NDC to deliver the suffering masses from the shackles of poverty fastened on them. The MP, a.k.a General Mosquito, said the outcome of the Odododiodoo bye-election, which saw the NPP gasping for breadth, is a clear indication of what is to happen in the 2008 general elections.

According to him, just as the NPP lost the Asawasi bye-elections and went further to lose that of Odododiodoo is a clear signal to the ruling party that Ghanaians are now politically awake and can now read between the politics of lies adopted by the NPP.

General Mosquito was speaking in an interview with an Accra based radio station PeaceFM after the Odododiodoo bye-elections last Tuesday. He pointed out that even though president Kufuor abandoned his busy schedule at the castle to mount the platform to campaign for the party's candidate at the Odododiodoo bye-elections, the electorate defied his presence and voted for the NDC candidate. The former MP contended that of all the bye-elections held in the country since president Kufuor came to power five years ago, this was the only one the gentle giant had spent time on to mount the campaign platform, yet the NPP lost the seat. He said the outcome of the election was a signal to the NPP that the good people of this country were fed up with the party.

"The outcome of this election is a clear indication that Ghanaians are fed up with the bad economic policies of the NPP government, which have impoverished them and are positioned to show the party the exit out of the castle and put the NDC back to power," he stressed.

General Mosquito continued that come December 2008, the NDC would ride to the castle to deliver the people out of the clutches of the bad economic policies of the NPP and put the economy of the state back on course.

According to the provisional results, NDC's Nii Tackie Kommey beat his arch NPP rival, Asafoatse Mankattah with 26,841 votes and the NPP candidate, 18,454. CPP's veteran Christian Shanco-Bruce bagged 946 votes while the DPP candidate had 98 of the total votes cast.
