'Gen Mosquito' Threatens Court Action Against A-G

Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia, NDC Member of Parliament for Wenchi West, has declared his intension to contest the constitutional basis for the appointment of Mr Edward Dua Agyeman as the country?s Auditor-General.

He said a draft of his petition to the Supreme Court is ready and that a final touch is being given to it for filing soon. Mr. Nketiah popularly known as ?General Mosquito? announced this when he inaugurated the Jaham Training College chapter of the Bagbin Fan Club at Wa at the weekend.

He said appointment of the Auditor-General was illegal and unconstitutional because he was over 63 years at the time of his appointment. He explained that at 63 years, Mr. Agyeman was over and above the retiring age of 60 as stipulated by law for civil and public servants.

Mr Nketia said the Auditor-General ?has been planted there by the government to be used to carry out its ambition.? The Auditor-General cannot make a recommendation on an Assembly Member let alone a District Chief Executive or a Minister. He is a party functionary doing the bidings of President Kufour?, alleged.
