General Mosquito: "NPP glorifies death"

General Secretary of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia has said the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) glorifies death.

Speaking on Asempa FM's Eko sii sen political talk show with Kwadwo Asare Barfuor Acheampong (KABA) about the NPP’s recent ‘won gbo’ [we’re dying] demonstration in the national capital Accra, the former MP said the name of the demonstration betrayed the party’s love for things concerning death.

Buttressing his point further, Mr Nketia said a similar demonstration held by the NPP in May 1995 dubbed ‘ku me preko’ – a name, which has deathly connotations – was quintessential proof of the party’s love for death.

Mr Nketia also made reference to the NPP Flagbearer’s ‘all-die-be-die’ comment, which he made ahead of the 2012 national elections – a remark that attracted a lot of flak from the NDC at the time.

He also said all pastors who either belong to the party or are sympathisers prophesy nothing but deathly doom and gloom.

According to him, the party, its members and leaders are always welcoming death and issues concerning death.

The NPP’s ‘we’re dying’ demonstration was led by Nana Akufo-Addo and top party gurus to express to the President, the frustrations of ordinary Ghanaians concerning the worsening power crisis. Thousands of demonstrators hit the streets to be part of the demonstration.
