Germany Awards Scholarships

Accra, April 1, GNA - The German Ambassador in Ghana, Mr Peter Linder on Thursday handed over scholarship documents to six Ghanaians to pursue post-graduate studies in German universities under a German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) programme.

An official statement issued by the German Embassy in Accra and made available to the Ghana News Agency said most of the students would be following international postgraduate courses with specific relevance to developing countries to enable them to contribute significantly in the field of development.

Mr Kofi Abakah Blankson would study for MSc in Land Management and Land Tenure in Munich University; Mr Evans Mensah Hervie would pursue MSc in Sustainable Energy and Systems Management at Flensburg University while Mr Kobina Mensah Mannoh also studies in the University of Munich. The others are Mr Wiafe Owusu-Banahene and Kodjo Tetteh Kpakote for the University of Fridericiana of Karlsruhe and Mr John Tawiah Aidoo for the University of Dresden.

DAAD is a major German organisation responsible for government-sponsored programmes in support of academic cooperation and exchange between Germany and other countries. It sponsors over 50,000 students and scientists worldwide every year.
