Ghana Academy of Muslim Professionals congratulate John Mahama, Prof. Naana Jane

The Ghana Academy of Muslim Professionals (GAMP) has congratulated the President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama and Vice President, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang.

A statement dated, January 6, 2025 and signed by GAMP president, Muniru Shaibu Alidu, GAMP stated: "This victory represents a significant milestone in Ghana's democratic journey and a testament to the confidence the people of Ghana have placed in your vision and leadership.

"We are optimistic that your administration will prioritize inclusivity, development, and the well-being of all citizens," the statement added.

It further highlighted the hope that the Mahama government will fulfill all promises made "to the Muslim community and Ghanaians as a whole."

"As an organization committed to fostering national unity, professional excellence, and the empowerment of all communities, GAMP looks forward to supporting your efforts in building a prosperous and harmonious Ghana. We pray for divine guidance, wisdom, and strength as you embark on this noble journey to serve our nation. May this new chapter bring progress, stability, and hope to all Ghanaians," the statement concluded.

Mahama sworn in

John Mahama was sworn in as president on January 7, 2025 after winning the 2024 presidential elections.

Mahama won his first term as president in 2012 but lost his re-election bid to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in 2016 and again in 2020. He won on his third re-election bid, beating Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia in the 2024 elections with over 57% of all valid votes cast.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) which Mahama leads, has also secured about 183 seats in the 276-seat Parliament.
