The Ghana Advocacy Group will on June 13, 2020, hold the maiden edition of its forum – The Inner Conversation, to discuss the Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on different facets of Ghana’s economy.
A diaspora led platform of Ghanaian professionals, diplomats, and academics from a wide range of backgrounds, living in Ghana as well as the diaspora, the group is one of the foremost platforms which provides an avenue for Ghanaians in the diaspora to engage on different issues of development, leveraging their skills, network and resources to provide constructive solutions to challenges such as; security, political stability, entrepreneurial development, finance and investment, healthcare and education innovation, among others.
The impact of COVID-19 and its associated shocks to the global economy, and the more recent racial abuses, with implications for stability of many countries around the globe, presents opportunities for reimagining cooperation, development, and new strategies for organising socio-economic activities.
It is against this background that the Ghana Advocacy Group, seeks to broaden its scope of work and engagement with the objective of reaching a much larger audience outside of the focal and direct groups of influencers it currently engages in addressing some of the most pressing ‘afroglobal’ challenges confronting Ghana, and Africa.
The maiden Forum will feature H.E. Dr. Michael Ocquaye Jnr., Ghana’s High Commissioner to India, Dr. Kofi Derek Owusu Boahene , Professor of Facial Plastics and Reconstructive Surgery at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Dr. Benjamin Dabo Sarkodie, Interventional Radiologist and Lecturer at the University of Ghana Medical School, Prof. James Affram Adjaye, Chair of Stem Cell Research and Regenerative Medicine and Director of the Institute for Stem Cell Research and Regenerative Medicine at the medical faculty of Heinrich Heine University, Irene Ansa-Asare Horsham, Deputy Rector (Institutional Advancement, Corporate & International Affairs), MountCrest University College, Accra, and Angela Dedo Kofi, Ghanaian Entrepreneur.
With participants from all over the globe, the forum will aim to provide insights from the perspectives of Ghanaian professionals from different disciplines. Ultimately, the forum over time will provide an alternative pathway for Ghanaians living in the diaspora to contribute meaningfully to not only the policy discourse, but in other areas of the development of the country.
The event, which will be held online via zoom, will be moderated by Daniel Ampomah (CEO and President of Lucent Healthcare Services) and Kwame Boakye – Danquah (Forensic Psychologist and Criminal Profiler based in the USA). The time is 7-9PM GMT (3-5PM EST), and is publicly accessible at, MEETING ID:81536291445, and PASSCODE: 041500.
