Ghana Air Force personnel train with US Navy

Accra, Aug. 7, GNA - Personnel of Ghana Air Force on Monday began a five-day joint training exercise with the US Navy to enhance their capacity to monitor the country's exclusive zone. About 140 military personnel, including 37 all ranks from the US Navy are taking part in the exercise, which involves lectures as well as air manoeuvres.

The US Navy has made available a B3 military aircraft to be used to conduct a series of flight demonstrations. Ghana Air Force pilots would fly the plane. Air Commodore Nana Krakue, the Accra Air Force Base Commander, told the media that the exercise formed part of activities aimed at deepening relations between both countries. He said the Ghana Air Force's inability to monitor the country's exclusive zone had led to the country losing substantial revenue in terms of what poachers gained from their activities on the high seas. He said the exercise would afford them the opportunity to learn from the experience of their US counterparts and build their capacity for such endeavours. 7 Aug. 06
