Ghana Armed Forces and Police Service console former First Lady

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) and the Ghana Police Service have expressed their condolences to the former First Lady, Dr. Mrs. Ernestina Naadu Mills, and the family of late President John Evans Atta Mills at the demise of the former President and Commander-in-Chief.

A high powered delegation of the Armed forces and the Police Service led by both the Chief of the Defense Staff (CDS) Lt. Gen Peter Augustine Blay and the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mr. Paul Tawiah Quaye, on Friday called on the former First Lady at her residence at the Regimanuel Gray Estate at Spintex, to console her.

The CDS assured the former First Lady and the bereaved family of the support and assistance of GAF towards the burial of the late President.

He wished Mrs. Naadu Mills and the bereaved family the Lord’s guidance, strength and protection, as they went through this sad and painful moment.

Lt Gen. Blay further assured the bereaved family that the former President would be given a befitting burial and they should be assured of the full assistance of the security services when the time was due.

On his part, the IGP recounted some fond memories of the former President, who he referred to as a teacher and father and who was always there to correct one when the individual went wrong, adding that the President always said to him; “do the right things at the right time.”

Mr. Quaye, therefore, noted that the demise of the former President was “really a great loss to everyone.”**
