The management of Ghana International School has resolved to take all legal means to protect the school’s land and property at Cantonments.

This follows an attempt by some unscrupulous people to deliver a quantity of blocks on part of the school land on 29th August 2024, with the explanation that that section had been sold to an unknown individual.

The school lodged a complaint at the Cantonments Police Station, and the police dispatched a rapid response team to assess the situation.

According to a source in the school who wants to remain anonymous, at about 2 a.m. on Saturday, August 31st, 2024, a tipper truck laden with sand drove to the gate of the property in an attempt to tip the sand onto the property. This was resisted by GIS security and the Cantonments police who had been called in.

However, a plain-clothed individual in a Toyota Camry car with registration number GC 2397-21 insisted that the truck be allowed to enter the gate and tip the sand.

The source said two people in the tipper truck were picked up at the Cantonments Police Station. Personnel of GIS were also invited to the station. The individual in the Toyota car also followed.

At the Cantonments Police Station, he gave his name as Chief Superintendent Ibrahim Opoku of the VVIPU of the Office of the President.

In the morning of Saturday, an excavator was brought on the site to excavate the land in preparation for construction of a fence wall, but the move was resisted by the school authorities.

The school management has taken steps to secure its property and warns all encroachers and any security officers that may be fronting for them to keep off its bona fide property.
