The Minister of Tourism, Hon. Akua Sena Dansua (MP), has mentioned the prevailing good governance environment, economic and political stability, a strong public-private partnership, the thriving, flexible and strong legal framework for business and investment, among others as some of the catalysts making Ghana a preferred tourism and investment destination. She also mentioned accommodation, natural and cultural heritage sites, Ghana’s emerging oil industry, health and sports tourism infrastructure, as potential areas for investments in the country’s tourism industry.
Hon. Dansua made these remarks when delivered a paper on the “Future of Nation Branding, Tourism and Investment in a Globalised World” at the Institute of Cultural Diplomacy (ICD) in Berlin, Germany recently.
Hon. Dansua had been invited to deliver a paper at an international conference organised by the ICD which was also addressed by the Namibian Prime Minister, Mr. Nahas Angula.
On behalf of the President, the Government and people of Ghana, the Minister invited participants and tourists to take advantage of the enabling investment climate in Ghana to invest in large, medium and small scale tourism enterprises and also visit Ghana for vacation.
During the fair, Ghana mounted a stand to showcase the country’s natural, cultural, and historical attractions, as well as present Ghana as a preferred destination. The “Ghana Day” attracted over 500 visitors including Ministers of Tourism and Ambassadors from Mali, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, and exhibitors and tourists who sampled Ghana’s foods and drinks and the display of the splendid Ghanaian culture and tradition.
The 45-year old event is the biggest tourism fair in the world, and attracts over 20 million comprising exhibitors, travel writers, tourists, and investors. It has exhibitor sales of about 5 billion Euros and an exhibitor satisfaction rate of 92%.
