Ghana-Morocco: After Match Quotes

  • Michael Essien: We were under pressure but we got the win when we needed it. This was our best performance of the tournament, and you can see that we are getting better and better with each game.

  • John Paintsil: "We don't care who is coming because we are ready to face any team. We are happy we are qualified for the next round. But not too much, because we have to think about what is ahead of us, the final day."

  • Michael Essien: "I am doing my best for the team to get the three points. I think we are improving. If we continue we could win the (African) Cup. We are ready to meet any team."

  • Coach Claude Le Roy: "For me, it's the best game we've played since I've been in Ghana. They played so well and were so dedicated. There was a huge solidarity between them."

  • Morocco coach Henri Michel: "I can't talk about a match because there was not one, we totally failed. We didn't win a single tackle and didn't put two passes together. The analysis is severe: It's a failure."

  • Fan@Adabraka.Accra: "Man, I have never seen the blackstars play like this ..ever .. and I am 85 years-old" (The man did not look anything past 40)

  • Fan@Osu.Accra: "If we had played like this against Brazil, we would have whipped them 6-0"

  • Senegalese: "I don't understand Ghana at all. You play very bad sometimes, but sometimes you play world-class soccer that no African country has ever played or dreamed of playing, ALL WITH THE SAME SET OF PLAYERS."
