The Black Stars of Ghana held their first training session at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, October 7, 2024, ahead of their crucial tie against Sudan in the 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The players underwent drills, warm-up sessions, and short touches of the ball, with the session lasting for three hours.

Some of the players who were present for the first day of training included Mohammed Kudus, Jordan Ayew, Gideon Mensah, Mohammed Salisu, Semenyo, Elisha Owusu, Brandon Thomas, Jojo Wollacott, and Frederick Asante.

The likes of Inaki Williams, Ernest Nuanah, Alidu Seidu, Alexander Djiku, and the rest are yet to join the squad to continue preparations ahead of the game against Sudan.

Speaking in an interview with GhanaWeb after the training session, Elisha Owusu stated that the morale in camp is very high and the players are working diligently to win the game.

He called on Ghanaians to show up in their numbers to support the team on Thursday, October 10, 2024, as the Black Stars take on Sudan.

“We are positive and doing our best ahead of the match. We don’t feel any pressure. We would like Ghanaians to come and support us,” Owusu said.

The Black Stars' doubleheader against Sudan will have a major impact on Ghana’s chances of qualifying for the 2025 AFCON after failing to win their first two games.

Ghana occupy the third position with one point in Group F of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers after two matches.

Angola lead the group with six points, followed by Sudan with three points, while Niger lies at the bottom with one point.
