The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Sekondi, Andrew Kofi Egyapa Mercer, says he finds it outrageous why the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) will kick against the enhanced military cooperation agreement entered into between the Government of the Republic of Ghana and the Government of the United States of America.

In his view, the NDC is simply being mischievous knowing very well that the agreement which was ratified by the Parliament of Ghana on March 23, 2018, has not breached any existing agreement between the two countries and the laws of the West African nation.

What even baffles him more is the sudden u-turn by the umbrella family to accuse the government of selling the sovereignty of the people of Ghana when in reality, they (NDC) where the once who did that when they signed a similar agreement with the Americans in 2015 in Stuttgart, Germany.

Interacting with Accra-based TV 3, Saturday, Mr. Mercer said he was very much assured by the President of the land that the Americans were not going to establish a military base in Ghana, re-echoing the sentiments of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo that the NDC is manipulating Ghanaians.

“The NDC is manipulating Ghanaians. To create military base in Ghana is where the mischief lies since the Americans have been here [Ghana] since 1998”, he noted.
