Ghana Wildlife Society organizes route march

Accra, June 21, GNA- The Ghana Wildlife Society (GWS) on Saturday organized a route march as part of its 21st anniversary to remind the general public of the need to act responsibly towards the environment. Dr. Eraramus Owusu, Executive Director of the Society said the route march was aimed at training our future leaders to appreciate conservation and environmental issues right from their young ages. He said, the year's anniversary, which is under theme: "Wildlife clubs!

21 years of conservation education in Ghana, impacts and prospects," takes cognizance of the fact that the issues that led to the setting up of the wildlife clubs 21 years ago are as relevant today as they were then. Dr. Owusu said GWS has organized a number of activities for its members, including organizing field trips to conservation sites, training of club leaders and the production of educational materials to aid awareness creation. "All these actions were necessary in response to the numerous challenges confronting environmental management and conservation issues which have stimulated most debates and discussions," he added. Dr. Owusu called on corporate partners and supporters for more support which should be seen as an opportunity to help them meet their social responsibilities.
