Ghana commended for sustenance of democracy

Kumasi, March 17, GNA - Dr Philip Goodwin, Regional Director of the British Council in-charge of East and West Africa, has commended for not only reverting to democratic rule but also sustaining multi-party system of governance in the country.

He said this was a positive development that had made Ghana one of the best investment destinations in the West African sub-region. Dr Goodwin, who is in the country on a five-day familiarisation visit, was speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Kumasi on Wednesday at a reception held in his honour.

On performance of the British Council in Ghana, Dr Goodwin expressed satisfaction about its activities but said more to do to expand its scope and help bring its impact to bear on the larger community.

He said plans were afoot to further strengthen the co-operation and support by the British Council for the country in a bid to enhance progress in the spheres of education and communication.
