Convention People’s Party (CPP) chairman Prof Edmund Delle has bemoaned the underdevelopment of the country, blaming government for doing little.
In a press release to commemorate the 68th anniversary of the CPP, Prof Delle said: “It is sad and very humiliating to look back as a party, the extent to which our nation has dwindled.”
He did not understand why “we have been crowded with gross corruption, misappropriation and gross incompetence right down from the Executive to the very last person in government”.
For him, the country is “bleeding with poverty” even though Ghana’s first president and CPP founder Dr Kwame Nkrumah fought to eradicate the canker.
Below is the statement:
Fellow Comrades,
HAPPY 68TH BIRTHDAY TO OUR DEAR PARTY
I write to you all with joy and humility as your National Chairman & Leader. Today, our party has marked yet another milestone in our entire history. 68 years ago, our dear and beloved party was formed and established with great men and minds that thought alike. They fought the oppressors rule and gave our dear nation an Independent and subsequently a republic.
It is, therefore, sad and very humiliating to look back as a party, the extent to which our nation has dwindled. We have been crowded with gross-corruption, misappropriation and gross incompetence right down from the Executive to the very last person in government. Our nation today is bleeding with poverty; a cancer our founder and his comrades fought and won.
However, I am of a firm believe that we as a party are headed on the right path to redeem ourselves from oppressors rule, re-gain grassroots support and climb back to power to relief our people from the bondage they find themselves over these years.
Today, I can boldly say that the CPP is better placed with a marginal appreciation with regards to the election results as compared to 2012 though we could have done better and far much better. Internal cohesion, perseverance and directional-focus will lead us back to power. There is no doubt in my mind that Ghana needs us the most now than ever.
My entire administration and the teaming youth are working tirelessly to regain confidence and trust within the voting populist. Our strategies are on point and we believe that, Ghanaians will entrust this nation back to us once again.
Be rest assured. The CPP will and shall never die. Dr. Nkrumah and his ideals will and shall never die! Forward Ever! Backward Never!
Comradely Yours Prof. Edmund N. Delle National Chairman& Leader – CPP
